Interesting Places to Visit in Leeds, West Yorkshire

Leeds is a historic and successful city, which is centrally placed in the North of England. The City is well-known as the commercial and local capital of the North and has long been known for its large manufacturing industry, which is still going strong.

From gorgeous buildings to historical sites, Leeds has some gorgeous things to see and do.

One of the city's favourite delights is Kirkstall Abbey, which is a historical abbey situated in the outskirts of the city. It is thought to be one of britain's most complete examples of a medieval Cistercian abbey. building began on the abbey in 1152 and it took over 75 years to complete. The historical abbey is now a Grade 1 listed structure.

In addition to Kirkstall Abbey, Leeds has plenty more things to do, including the historical Kirkgate Market.

Leeds boasts a fabulous shopping centre, which boasts a store that are suitable for any budget. in fact, you'll find high end shops in the city's Victoria Quarter, which include branches of harvey nichols, Flannels & other designer shops.

In the merrion centre, you'll locate cheaper high-street shops such as dorothy perkins, warehouse & claire's accesories.

If you don't like shopping, you will be pleased to know that Leeds has plenty of other places of interest. These include the extremely educational Leeds city museum and the Leeds city art gallery, which caters to the cultured visitor. on the other hand, you could visit one of the city's wonderful parks or even the stunning millennium gardens, which are placed in the heart of the city.

These good-looking gardens were built to mark the millennium at a cost of ?12 million and were funded by Leeds council and the Millennium Commission. The gardens were awarded a prize at the 2004 Chelsea Flower Show, although they were damaged this year because of a huge water fight that was organised on the social-networking website, Facebook.

Leeds has got superb nightlife, which begs to be tasted. Whether you would rather have a peaceful drink in one of the city's quaint pubs or a glass of white wine at one of Leeds' vip wine bars, you will have a fantastic night here.

Post-drink, why don't you hit the nightclubs? Leeds has some superb nightclubs that cater to any genre of music, which means that you will be spoilt for choice.

Leeds also has many venues to watch live music, which include the Cockpit. These venues cater mainly to alternative music & attract local and touring bands.
