One of the city's best attractions is Kirkstall Abbey, which is a historic abbey located in the outskirts of the city. It is widely regarded as one of England’s most complete examples of a medieval Cistercian abbey. Construction of the abbey began in 1152 & it took over 75 years to complete. The historic abbey is now a Grade 1 listed building. In addition to Kirkstall Abbey, Leeds boasts plenty more things to do, including the historic Kirkgate Market.
