Birmingham is the 2nd largest city in the uk & it's a really modern location with lively nightlife and some fabulous opportunities for shopping. Birmingham is located in the british county of the west midlands &, according to a estimate in 2006, it has a population of 1,006,500.

People who are from birmingham are often called 'Brummies', due to the city's nickname of Brum. this name comes from the city's dialect name, Brummagem, which is originated from one of the city's earlier names, 'Bromwicham'. there's a distinct Brummie dialect, which is characteristic of people from this city.

Birmingham is a modern, lively and cosmopolitan city. With vibrant night life, fantastic hotels, wonderful opportunities for shopping and unusual tourist attractions, it's a wonderful location to visit for a weekend away or short holiday.

Birmingham boasts some fabulous buildings to see, including the Bullring shopping centre. The Bullring was built at a cost of ?500 million by Benoy and is a striking, modern structure.

One of the best things about Birmingham has to be its great museums, galleries and attractions which are lively & educational for the entire family. one of the best is Dudley Zoo, which is in the grounds of dudley castle & boasts some superb animals who live in over forty acres of pretty gardens.

Some of our other favourite places include the sea life centre, west midlands safari park & soho house.

If you are a shopaholic, you certainly will not be disappointed by city centre birmingham. From designer stores to small, independent boutiques, the city truly has things for everyone to enjoy.

There are plenty of independent shops in the city's Custard Factory, which was constructed on the site of the former Bird's custard factory. in addition to this, you will find high street shops in the city's Pallasades mall that is located just above birmingham new street railway station. alternatively, you could drop by the city's brand-new Bullring shopping centre, which has over 150 different shops for you to browse and enjoy.

If you are staying for a weekend break or holiday in birmingham, you should ensure you taste the city's great night life. indeed, the city has rustic pubs, vip bars and some fantastic clubs, so you will be spoilt for choice.

For fanaticals of alternative or indie music, there are numerous live music venues in the city such as the factory club. in addition to this, you will also discover numerous alternative bars and clubs too, so you will have a fantastic time.
