Sheffield is the fourth largest city in great britain and boasts a population of 525 800. these days, the city boasts a thriving economy and quite low cost of living, so you will be able to live life to the full here.

Sheffield boasts loads of culture and entertainment, including fantastic theatres, museums and galleries. it's the greenest city in britain, with 50 public parks. Crime statistics also demonstrate that it is one of britain's safest cities.

Sheffield is situated close to Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham and the Peak District.

The Sheffield area has been occupied since the last ice age at least. however, it was during the 18th century with the birth of the steelworks, that the city really prospered. Indeed, the town was named as a borough in 1843 and given city status in 1893.

In the early 1970s, plenty of the city's steelworks were shut thanks to competition from other countries. although this caused mass unemployment, Sheffield was later revitalised and it's now a thriving, futuristic city that's well-known for its music, great music and pretty green spaces.

You will locate lots of fantastic things to do in Sheffield. In fact, the city has some fantastic museums & art galleries, which are worth visiting. These include the snazzy graves gallery, which has some fantastic artwork by artists including Cezanne, Turner & Sam taylor wood. It also hosts frequent touring exhibitions.

A handful of other fantastic museums & art galleries are the Millennium Galleries and Bishops House.

Sheffield has many to offer shopping fans. the city has meadowhall, which is a huge mall with over 240 stores. The mall opened in 1990 and was one of the very first out-of-town shopping malls in the uk.

Despite this, Sheffield city centre boasts some fantastic stores, too. in actual fact, you'll find everything there, from high-street stores like makeover, to unusual independent stores.

Sheffield is well-known for its nightlife, so it is a great place to visit for an evening out. in actual fact, the city boasts many inns, bars, and nightclubs.

Sheffield is home to great bands such as the long blondes, richard hawley, the human league and ABC. if you want to watch the next big thing, you could visit one of the city's great live music venues, such as the plug.
