Dallas is the third largest city in the state of Texas and the ninth largest city in the United States.

Dallas is easy to get to, with two major airports and a host of Interstate and US Highways. In town, public transport and lots of private carriers make it a breeze to get around.

Sports fans will be pleased with the Texas Stadium, home to the multiple world champion Dallas Cowboys. Museums, amusement parks, gardens, historic sites and other activities can be found around every corner from downtown to the suburbs and beyond.

Dallas offers a wealth of accommodations, from world class luxury suites to family priced rooms.

The City of Dallas maintains and operates 406 parks. The cities parks contain 17 separate lakes, including White Rock and Bachman lakes. Fair Park which was originally developed to host the Texas Centennial Exposition in 1936. The city is also home to Texas first and largest zoo, which opened in 1888.The city home to 47 community and neighbourhood recreation centres, 276 sports fields, 60 swimming pools, 232 playgrounds, 173 basketball courts, 112 volleyball courts, 126 play slabs, 258 neighbourhood tennis courts, 258 picnic areas, six 18 hole golf courses, two driving ranges, and 477 athletic fields.

Downtown Dallas offers several historical and cultural venues.

Visit the John F Kennedy Memorial. Next, head west for a trip through time with the vintage streetlights, horse drawn surreys and cart vendors that line the streets of West End Marketplace, home to shops, restaurants and a movie theatre. After that view the historic homes of the Swiss Avenue Historic District and get a taste of the residential lifestyle during the cities early years.

The Dallas Museum of Art offers an inviting tour of this 22 block neighbourhood on cassette, perfect for touring the area either by car or foot.

History buffs will love the Dallas Museum of Natural History founded in 1936 and featuring numerous exhibits of rocks and minerals and extinct wildlife, as well as the first mounted dinosaur in Texas.

The Museum of the American Railroad to view freight and passenger cars from years gone by. Massive locomotives, as well as rare and unique pieces from numerous American railroad cars articulately portray the nations transportation heritage.

Its no coincidence that Dallas is the number one visitor destination in Texas. It offers visitors a unique combination of attractions, accommodations, dining, nightlife, sightseeing, shopping and hospitality not found anywhere else.
