Geneva is a very big city in Switzerland even the second biggest one. The city is located next to the River Rone and Lake Geneva. This city has about 1 million inhabitants and has many international organization the most famous one is the headquarters of the united nations. The first time Geneva appeared in history was in the writings of Julius Caesar. Geneva was founded in 58BC and in the ninth century it was changed into the capital of Burgundy. Geneva also has a nickname namely the Protestant Rome. There is a lot of culture in Geneva like the Flower Clock and the Reformation Wall and Palais des Nations what is a part of the United Nations headquarters. At Cour Saint there is the biggest sight of Geneva called the Saint Pierre Cathedral this building is of great spiritual and cultural importance. It also has an underground passage to the Museum the passage connects the two building. Another great landmark is a fountain called the Jet d'eau what means water jet which is located in the Geniva lake.

It is more then a 100 metres high and it can be seen from many part whis of the city. The city has its own newspaper called the Tribune this paper is printed daily and is founded around 1880 by mister Bates, this newspaper has 187000 subscribers ans is supported by the Roman Catholic Church and is independent since 1996. The main television channel in Geneva is called Television Suisse Romande. It is a fact that Geneva is a very international city with a lot of international influences. For instance the city is full of English theaters and if you like to go out to dinner you can choose a restaurant with a cuisine from almost every country like Italian, MexiacanFree Web Content, Afghan and Ethiopian. Geneva also has a very cool tradition that dates from 1818. Where they use a chestnut tree for the official herald of the spring. The newspaper then writes a story when the first bud arrives in 2007 the first bud appeared on march second. I have also been in Geneva A very long time ago with? my family and I had a very good time there. I think that other people will also have a blast over there. No matter if you like culture or you are more the shopping kind of typ then Geneva is really the place to go. The only thing that can be a little annoying there is the fact that many protest are held there because of the headquarters of the United Nations but fortunately we where not bothered by the protesting people. I want to thank you the reader very much and I hope that I have given you a little idea of what Geneva is all about. I would like one thing if you visit this city would you also right a little story of the things you seen and drop it in this great directory because your story can be very fun for others to read.
