Why choose a coaching holiday?

By: Keith Barrett

With many of us looking to travel to an increasing range of exotic destinations, the thought of taking a holiday by coach seems like something from a previous era.

A coach trip sounds perfect for a trip to an old English seaside town but it does not bring back images of luxury travel. When we think of travelling by coach, many of us think of a cheap and cheerful mode of travel.

Though coach tour companies are still keen to keep prices competitively low, our images of what a coaching holiday means bear little relation to the current reality.

Faced with competition from a number of areas, not least from the budget airlines, coach tour companies have been forced to take a look at their reputations.

The result has been that coach tours have been heading, often quite literally, in a new direction.

They've realised that there is still a large market for their services, with many keen to tour extensively on a holiday without wishing to face the hassle of driving.

With people wishing to travel longer distances, coaching holidays now allow you to fly out to your chosen destination and then tour once you get there.

The new generation of coaching holidays now concentrate on Eastern Europe, North America and the Far East.

Short trips to seaside towns tend to be a thing of the past.

As a result of this shift in emphasis, holidays by coach have been growing in popularity once again.

Coaching holidays are now all about providing luxury at an affordable price. Maybe it's time that you took a look at what they have to offer.
