In A Whole New World

By: Jim Brown

Traveling is fun indeed. What with all the fun and exciting adventures you could try. There will be a lot of things that are in that country that yours probably don't have. So, don't sulk and wait until the day of your flight. Get up and about on what could and might happen during your trip. This will be more fun if you are with you friends. Enjoy as much as you can. But hey, you will enjoy more if you have geared up for it well and long enough

Whether it will be for meetings, seminars, or even for vacations, leaving home will always entail a lot of preparations for travelers. There will always be a lot of things to do which means you will need a lot of time, too. Here are the things you should find out, experience and take note of for safety precautions before and while you are inside another country.

1. Prepare your passport. Make sure it is constantly updated.

2. Check if you will need immunizations and take preventive medicines before you go.

3. Not all countries speak English as their second language. Be familiar with the language of the locals. Buy a small dictionary with useful phrases. This will help you go about the place like bargaining, looking for toilets and asking for directions.

4. Know where the embassy is located.

5. Know all the important laws and rules.

6. Know their customs and traditions. Do not laugh at them and learn to embrace their culture no matter how strange it is.

7. Know their currency and where you can have your money exchanged for theirs.

8. Know if your cellphone works in their country. If not, find ways on how to call home.

9. Know all the important numbers (embassy, police and tourist information center) and keep them in your pocket at all times.

10. Get a map of the country for added convenience of getting around and make sure you know how to read the map.

11. Other countries have different adapters for electronic gadgets. So make sure you have every kind with you.

12. Get a bag little enough that you can carry around your neck and roomy enough for passport and money.

13. Make sure there aren't any recent attacks on tourists. Check the newsstands and reports firsthand.

14. Plan a good itinerary first before you go to a country. Make sure you have included all the beautiful and must-see places.

15. Just research.
