By: Amit Kothiyal

Kalindikhal with all its mighty charm is a place that must be seen to be believed. For sheer geographical diversity, few places in the world are as richly endowed as Kalidikhal. Low rolling bills, just a couple of hundred meters above sea level, climb on to touch the core of the beautiful mountains. Here lie peaks that are several thousand meters high and never lose their perennial snow. This is famous for its trekking & hiking trials. Kalindikhal trek is truly a trekker's paradise - lofty snow peaks, lush green valleys, fast flowing rivers, enchanting mountains, rough glaciers, rocky screens, & crevassed snowfields.

Kalindikhal trek definitely is amongst one of the most challenging expedition which basically lies in the lap of the spectacular Garhwal Himalayas. At times, you also need to be roped up & even require the use of ice axes & crampons.

This trek takes you half way round Garhwal from the Bhagirathi valley. The trek basically starts from Gangotri and takes you through Nandavan, the base of the Bhagirathi peaks. After gaining suitable acclimatization, we ascend to Vasukital lake, a stunning place to camp surrounded by towering snow covered peaks. We then move to the Shweta Glacier and comes the challenging crossing of the Kalindikhal pass. The trial then descends to the Arwatal and to Mana which supposedly is the last village on the Chinese frontier. The trek fittingly ends at Badrinath with a visit to the holy temple and finally via Rishikesh to Delhi.

Trekking here will make you feel that you are a part of this majestic setting of snow peaks. This trip will give an experience of a lifetime and will make you feel as if you have had an unforgettable trekking expedition.
