Saving on car warranties

By: Keith Barrett

The standard way to purchase car warranty policies in the UK is to look to buy direct from car retailers. Indeed, such is the dominance of car dealerships that few people realise that there are options to buy warranties from anywhere else.

Independent car warranty companies do exist but have been slow to make themselves known to consumers.

Part of the reasoning behind this has been because they've been happy to sell policies to dealerships and then have the car retailers sell the policies on.

Using car retailers as middlemen was a good way for car warranty companies to get access to motorists.

Unfortunately, it's not always meant that car owners have been able to get the best deals.

Things are slowly starting to change, with independent vehicle warranty companies now looking to sell direct to the public. Such a change is to be welcomed, particularly since it has been accompanied by some big price drops.

The issue for the consumer is now one of how to get the best deal. It's clear that visiting your local car retailer may not be the best way to get a cheap car warranty policy.

A better option may well be to seek out independent car warranty companies online. A number of them have set up websites that allow you to buy direct.

Taking this approach to purchasing warranty could allow you to make significant savings.

Apart from the obvious benefits involved in being able to buy direct online at a reduced price, it's also never been easier to compare the prices and terms of warranty policies.

If you have been paying too much for warranty then now is the time to change things.

Shop around online and pay less for car warranties.
