The Pazo de Hermida is can be found in Padron, at the head of the RÃ?a de Arousa. The town, which is also the birthplace of RosalÃ?a de Castro, still preserves the house where the writer spent the last years of her life and this has been turned into a museum. A visit to this museum, along with the Camilo Jose Cela Foundation is a must for any tourist. From Padron it is easy to travel to any point in Galicia. The Ria, which is one of the most tranquil estuaries in Galicia, offers limitless possibilities for water sports and fishing.

Like all Pazos, there is a fair amount of history surrounding the building and in this case it is the following. In the 10th Century. the Towers of Lestrove were the most visible part of the defence fortifications in the RÃ?a de Arousa and were the origin of the Pazo de Hermida, a manor house with a coat of arms belonging to Galician nobility. RosalÃ?a de Castro would go there and spend long periods of time -in fact two of this poet's children were born there. The Pazo was also a silent witness to the signing of the Pact of Lestrove, which established the constitution of the Republican Federation of Galicia in March, 1930.

The Pazo is surrounded by a vast expanse of land where there are a number of recreational areas perfect for spending a pleasant afternoon.

With regards to the scenic location for the Pazo, it is extremely well located. The nearby RÃ?a de Arousa gives you the opportunity to enjoy the peaceful landscape of the area as well as the possibility of doing all kinds of water sports. The town of Padron is also well connected to Santiago de Compostela, the RÃ?as Bajas and the Costa da Morte, which makes the Pazo de Hermida a perfect starting point from which to set out on excursions..
