Acne is a common problem and nine out of ten are afflicted by it today. It is not merely a skin ailment related to teenagers but it can lead to permanent and severe scars that can cause permanent disfigurement. Proper care can prevent the occurrence of acne. Listed below are some of the ways by which your skin will be healthy and clean.

The tips

Most of us do not have sufficient water and our bodies are not properly hydrated. Having less quantities of water leads to the skin loosing its suppleness and is also unable to quickly heal and repair it. Lack of water blocks the follicles and helps bacteria to multiply. Having six to ten glasses of water will make your skin more elastic and less prone to acne.

Soaps contain chemicals that are very harsh on the skin. Drug stores and grocery shops display a huge array of them and one often uses them to have harmful effects. These soaps and cleansers make the skin very dry and increase the production of sebum leading to acne growth. Mild cleansers are the best for your skin, as they do not harm in any way.

All skin types need moisturizing. And this is the same for oily and acne prone skin. You will be surprised to know that a well-moisturized skin has less chances of developing acne. Just keep in mind that they are not comodogenic so that it does not clog the pores on your face. Using a non- comodogenic high spf sunscreen lotion will be of great help as this will protect your skin from drying due to the sun rays.

Excess oil and the clogged pores are the main causes of acne. This has to be dealt with. Doctors usually prescribe benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid solutions, which are used on very light acne. For severe and moderate acne these medications may prove to be harmful. It can increase the irritation and can also dry the skin too much.

Treatment:

Often one uses different products without realizing the repercussions. If you feel that the condition is getting worse it is best to refer to a professional dermatologist. If the acne is mild then washing the area with soap and lukewarm water is helpful. Benzoyl peroxide reduces bacterial growth and this is a very common thing that doctors use. Aggressive treatments are done if the acne is persistent and severe.
