A Review Of The Casio WMP-1V MP3 Audio Wrist Watch

By: teahupoo
The Casio WMP-1V MP3 is an interesting product. Is it a watch like every regular watch? Yes and no, depending on what you mean by a regular watch. If for you, a watch means a timepiece or any instrument that tells the time, then the answer is a big "Yes". However, if for you it means a small unobtrusive timepiece, then it is not.

Now to another question, Is this an MP3 player? Yes, if you refer to the ability to play files in that audio format. But a big "No" if you think of a player with the capabilities of an iPod.

The Casio WMP-1V MP3t has a lot of features jammed into it for such a small gadget. For its weight (70 grams) it does have a lot of features.

Now let's get into this piece. It has poorly designed buttons since they are not very responsive. You'll have to take out some time just to learn to use them. This is not just a personal opinion. I asked a few users too and they had similar complaints. However, they do their job, though. If you have some time to spend learning the ins and outs of this watch you probably will enjoy all the extras that come with it. But if you are not very technically inclined this watch will not be a good match for you.

The fast-forward and rewind buttons are also used to scan through songs. However, I was not really happy with the mode button. This mp3 player/watch has four modes. You'll have to keep pressing through all the play modes before you can set you equalizer (Yes, this wrist watch also has an equalizer). I guess I'm so used to easier navigation that I've not given due consideration to the fact that there are few buttons. This gives the designers less options.

If you want the best wrist watch, look somewhere else. If you want the best mp3 player, try an iPod. But if you want a bit of both, the Casio WMP-1V MP3 is for you. That is if you don't mind wearing a wristwatch that's about four times your usual size.
This watch is a great piece if you want a secure MP3 player for running and doing other outdoor activities. It definitely is not going to fall off once you have it strapped to your wrist. But for its size I really was just not that impressed. Perhaps if the buttons were a little easier to navigate through then this watch would be more appealing to me, also if it was a tad bit smaller and fit on my wrist in a more natural way.
