Bad Weather? Dont Let it Spoil your Exercise

By: Lance Davidson

A fold up treadmill can make exercising convenient. When you can't get outside because of your schedule or the weather, your trusty treadmill is always there for you. They are space savers as well, folding up to half their original size and easy to store away. You should feel comfortable on your fold up treadmill and these tips can help:

You may feel uncomfortable, but it will pass.
Start with walking at 5 miles per hour.
Don't use handrails while running.
Stay in the center of the belt and don't try to push against it.
Turn on some music for inspiration.
Keep varying the elevation at regular intervals.
Don't swing your arms outwards.
Focus and look straight ahead.
9. Remember not to do more then two workouts a week.
10. Set the elevation at 1 degree to simulate outdoor speeds.

With all the gadgets and innovations for fold up treadmills, one of the most interesting I have come across are treadmills with TV's. With the popularity of television, now you can watch your favorite programs as you walk or jog. You can also get treadmills with radios, video players and other innovative additions. However, indoor runners still tend to complain about the predictability of running indoors and the boredom that can accompany it. It is not like being outdoors where the air is crisp and the scenery is more inviting. However, with a little imagination, you can come up with newer and more precise workouts than you could get on a road or outdoor track. With treadmills today, you can control your pace and hill inclines.

Here are four workouts to use with your fold up treadmill in the winter months:

The speed demon- Run for 10 minutes. Then set the treadmill for 20 seconds per mile faster than your recent 5-K pace. Alternate between fast and slow and then cool down.
The progression- Begin with a 10 minute warm-up, then set a speed of 15 minutes per mile faster then your recent 5-K pace. Increase your time by one minute per week.

If you regularly run these workouts, you can improve your pace and conquer those hills. When the snow melts and the sunshine of spring arrives you will be truly be a speed demon!
