Tottenham Hotspur Football Club

Tottenham Hotspur FC is an English professional football club located in White Hart Line stadium in Tottenham, North London. Its capacity is 36, 240 people; Tottenham club plays in the stadium for over a century, starting from 1899. The club is also known by the name Spurs. Its home colors are white and away colors are blue. The club’s moto is Auedere est Facere (“To Dare is To Do”).

The club was founded in 1882 at All Hallows Church by schoolboys, also members of Hotspur Cricket Club, who called themselves Tottenham Hotspur. At first Tottenham tried to join the Southern League, but failed to do so, when receiving no votes. In 1895 the group has turned professional and managed to be admitted to Southern League. Several years later they were promoted to the First Division. The club’s first chairman was Charles Roberts.

According to Tottenham news, they have a long-standing rivalry with another professional English football club, Arsenal; the matches between two teams are called “North London Derby”, which refers to individual matches as well as to general ongoing rivalry between the teams. Tottenham also has rivalries with several other football clubs, such as West Ham United and Chelsea.

The club achieved FA Cup double, the European Cup Winner’s Cup, FA Community Shield and many other important trophies. Tottenham Hotspur has a large fan base, which includes more than 1.4 million fans in Britain, mostly in North London and Home Counties.
