Nadal, Roddick and Calleri With Good Starts in Australia

The Spaniard tennis player Rafael Nadal, the American Andy Roddick and the Argentinean AgustÃ?n Calleri, who just recently won over the Peruvian Luis Horna; they have all debuted last Monday with great success in the Australia Open, the first Grand Slam tournament of the year.

All have advanced to the second round of the competition at the Melbourne Park; one of the event's best seeded Nadal pre-classified behind defender champion and world's number one Roger Federer; Nadal has survived an early scare by winning 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 and 6-1 over the Serbian Viktor Troicki.

The Serbian who did not show any signs of anxiety and who is presently in the 126th place in the world ranking; forced a point for the first set and kept heading 4-2 during the second before Nadal recovered in a cold night at the Rod Laver arena. It was the Serbian's first experience in a Grand Slam event.

"He played in a very, but very aggressive form" commented Nadal in an after-match interview following his victory obtained in two hours and 35 minutes. "Today I had complications in some moments of the game. I could not find the rhythm at the beginning, but I believe that in the third set I played a little better", added.

Roddick, beat the Czech Lukas Dlouhyfor 6-3, 6-4 and 7-5, while Davydenko, fourth place in the series defeated the French Michael Llodra 7-5, 7-5 and 6-3. The next rival of the Russian will be another French player, Nicolas Mahut who defeated the Argentinean Jose Acasuso 7-6 (7-2), 5-7, 6-2, 3-6 and 7-5.

Calleri won over Horna 6-4, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3 and 6-4 and will face next the Austrian Stefan Koubek who defeated Carlos MoyÃ? former world's number one 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (2-7), 7-5 and 6-4.

On the other hand, the Swiss Federer will begin on Tuesday his race to keep his current title by playing the Argentinean Diego Hartfield in the main field (Rod Laver).

Other players who are also scheduled to play are: Marat Safin from Russia, the Australian Lleyton Hewitt, the Serbian Novak Djokovic and the Chilean Fernando Gonzalez last year's runner up. There will be of sort of tennis action during the day; this tournament will distribute among the categories' winners singles, doubles, male and female approximately 18.36 million dollars in prizes.
