A Regional Win for Gators Softball Team

By: Gertie The Gator

They make it look easy, and they have a way of coming out on top. They play hard with heart. This captured the NCAA Regional for the Gators, with a final score of 10 - 0 in five innings on Sunday. The Gators beat UCF and took the Regional title.

This wasn't an easy win for the Gators. In fact, the Gators lost the opening game 1 - 0, which forced the second game that the Gators won quite handily. Even the loss in the first game shows the toughness of the Gator team. First of all, to have a game with a score that low shows that the Gators held UCF from being able to make many good plays or do much damage.

Then, in the second game, the Gators showed what hey are made of. UCF couldn't hold the Gators back, and the Gators held UCF back all the way to a shutout. Junior, Stacey Nelson, pitcher for the Gators, held UCF to one hit and allowed no runs in the game, which ended the season with 64 wins and only 3 losses.

What is the next step for the Florida Gators Women's Softball Team? Super Regionals begin this Friday, with the Gators hosting Cal, who was an upset winner at the Fresno State Regionals. The Gators will play the Cal Bears Friday in Gainesville.

In addition to a great season and coming out on top, this team is one of the major factors that helped the Gators take the SEC All Sports Title this year.

Whatever your affiliation to the UF Gators is, you can be proud of the Gators Women's Softball Team and the entire athletic department. So, support your teams, sport your colors. Show your spirit and wear your official Gator gear.
You deserve it, and so do the Gator athletes, coaches and students.
