Rugby - Brian Ashton Will Continue as Englands Coach

By: Jane Richy

Even though Ashton got a lot of critics after taking 0 - 36 against South Africa, but the situation changed dramatically after the victories against France and Australia, and England unexpectedly run in to the World Cup, this shows clearly that there was a good job done by the coach.

Ashton had been working for a one year contract after he was promoted to be the head coach in December 2006 when Andy Robinson resigned; because of the results on last games the sixty one year old coach was rewarded with a new contract by the English Rugby Football Union chief Frances Baron to stay as the squad's leader saying "Brian has clearly done a great job and I'm sure they will be thrashing it out very quickly". Between this decisions it was mentioned the idea of hiring a manager to work next to Ashton.

It is not known how long this new contract will be for, Baron said "We won't talk about these things until the World Cup is over", though mass media suggested it could be until the next World Cup that will take place in New Zeland in 2011.

For the moment the main issue is next Sunday's match... a very good performance is expected.
