Common Mistakes That Prevent You Losing Weight

It is important to realise that most people make some very common mistakes when they try to lose weight. Most of these mistakes can be avoided and if you are on a diet, then learning what these are will help you to reach your weight loss goals.

For example, when most people decide on a diet, it can sometimes be too difficult for them to stick to. They may start out with good intentions be removing all the junk food from their fridges, but if choose a diet that is not easy to conform to, then after a short period you will probably give up. You will then go out and buy lots more junk food and end up putting on weight instead of losing it.

Be honest with yourself before you choose and start your diet. You must want to lose weight with a passion so that you feel good about yourself once more. Choose a diet to begin with that makes small changes to the things you eat. Smaller portions are best as it trains your stomach to accept less food in time.

It is not necessary to give up all the things you love eating when dieting. However, it is important for you to set yourself targets and know how much weight you want to lose before you begin your diet. Remember to eat in moderation and then you can include those foods you love. Unless you do this correctly, you will end up quitting and start over-eating once again.

Write down how much weight you want to lose, or write down the weight you want to be. Set a time period also but make sure it is not unreasonable. It is also a good idea to tell others you are on a diet and how much you want to lose. Doing this will help you to commit to your goals and the people you tell will support you also.

Understand that some weeks you will lose more weight than in others. Don't worry about this as this is normal, just make sure you keep notes and write down the details. Don't weigh yourself each day, do it once a week or every 10 days is best.

Another mistake people make is doing too much exercise. Too much exercise will only turn your fat into muscle and muscle can weigh more than fat for most people. do regular exercise of course but do it in moderation. Brisks walks after eating are best if only for 10 minutes or so.

The common mistakes mentioned above can easily be overcome if you make a strong and determined effort to lose weight. Remember, your diet will be a journey and one that you must enjoy. Learn and train your stomach to accept smaller portions and be realistic in your weight loss goals.
