How to Detect Hoodia Gordonii Scams

By: Vanessa Arellano Doctor

, which is one of the more popular weight loss supplements nowadays, is being used by people in order for them to control their appetites. This is probably the reason why a lot of diet pill makers are trying to go along with the hoodia bandwagon by including it in their list of ingredients of formula in their pills. Unfortunately, hoodia is scarce, which means that this particular ingredient is very difficult to come by. This creates a very limited supply of products in the market that can actually contain hoodia in its ingredients or formula, making it a very hot commodity to have.

hoodia, which is actually grown in the Kalahari Desert, needs about a few months before it should be harvested in order for it to achieve it full effect in controlling people's appetite. But, due to the increasing number of demand for it, and with very limited supply available, it forces hoodia harvesters to harvest it ahead of time, reducing its effectivity and potency. This now creates a lot of low-quality hoodia which are being sold in the market, and only a few are actually using the real hoodias as part of their diet pill ingredients, making it more difficult for people to determine which ones are actually real and which ones are not.

This actually creates a lot of opportunities for scammers out there since they know that there is a great demand for hoodia in the market, but there is a very limited supply of it. And since the nutritional supplement industry is unregulated by the FDA, a lot of them can actually get away with selling low-quality pills that sometimes do not even have hoodia as part of their active ingredient. Fortunately for people, especially for those interested in using diet pills that have hoodie in their active ingredients, there are certain ways wherein these hoodia scams can be detected.

Factors To Check

One way that you can detect these hoodia scams is if the products that these scammers are selling do not have any label or documentation on the product that they are selling which states that the hoodia that they are using are actually authentic hoodia. Any label or form of documentation that will inform you about the product, about the ingredient, and how they are used for the product will be sufficient, but keep in mind that well-planned scammers will attempt to provide you with these as well, especially if they are well-researched.

The important thing to remember here is that you look for particular aspects of the documentation or label that will help you determine its authenticity, like if it indicates what part of the hoodia plant is used since this is a requirement by the FDA on all hoodia sellers. C.I.T.E.S. certificates will also help authenticate that they are using real hoodia since this certificate is required from people who are exporting hoodia out of Africa. Also, hoodia products are only effective if they at least 400mg of hoodia in their pills, which is why it is important for you to check the label and see if they are using the appropriate amount of dosage for the product to become potent.

If you are not sure about a certain hoodia product on the market, you can always have the product tested, or ask the company to have it tested, just to make sure that it is what they say it is. Most often than not, scammers will not agree to having their products lab tested for obvious reasons, so it is best that you stay away from those who refuse.
