Driving a Bentley Continental Flying Spur

By: CJ Carter

The Bentley Continental Flying Spur comes equipped with more then it's fair share of goodies. A Bluetooth-enabled, hands free cell phone is standard inside of the Flying Spur. As an option a rear telephone can also be included. These days as with most luxury cars, the navigation system is accessed through a DVD. The rear seats even have fold out tables, as if they were airline passengers.

Just like the Continental GT, the Flying Spur is armed with a twin turbo 6.0 liter W12 engine. W12 is always good. We love it especially when it is pumping out 552 hp at the wheels. Plus all that power is commanded by a six speed automatic transmission that can be controlled through the shift knob or the floppy paddle gear box located behind the steering wheel. To some people the Flying Spur is akin to an agile large athlete. It's a huge 4 door sedan, but it is nimble at the same time. It's equipped with all wheel drive as well as innovative braking systems which are combined with electronically controlled suspension.

Eleven cow hides are butchered every time a Bentley Flying Spur is completed. Along with cowhide, wood and aluminum go into the make-up of the Flying Spurs interior. As an option, the rear seat of the flying spur can be configured with a rear console. The console is designed so that someone being driven can access rear climate control as well as seat adjustment, which includes a lumbar massage feature. Both seating aisles have heated and cooling functions. Topping everything off, Breitling designed an analog clock for the center console of the Flying Spur.

The Bentley Flying Spur is a bold statement. It's elegant, stately and daring all at the same time. It has a ferocious engine, and a sheer elegant silhouette. It is what a luxury car should be.
