Why you Should Unload your Jeep

By: Evander Klum

A Jeep, an SUV or any other 4-wheel drive is large as compared to sedans or coupes. But this does not mean that every single thing you desire will come along with your travel.

Here is the scary thing: Overloading your vehicle is as dangerous as not taking along the right gear in the first place.

The extra weight can cause imbalance and unnecessary stress on your vehicle as well as its components, so try to pack accordingly. Bring along only those necessary things. Be careful not to overload the vehicle. If rollovers can happen to SUVs, it can happen off road too!

First and foremost, determine how much to pack. Tools, equipment, and spare parts that you take along will ultimately depend on where you are going and for how long.

The general rule says: "You should pack enough to be confident that you could get yourself out of a dilemma". Nevertheless, if in case you could fix your large vehicle and began moving again, chances are a passing four-wheeler would come to your aid soon.

Here is another thing to keep in mind: avoid flying projectiles. You must put a huge importance on the fact that all of the items you have loaded in your vehicle should be securely strapped down or safely stowed away. This is because loose items could, unfortunately, become "plastic bullets" if they hit you. To secure items in your vehicle, you should use heavy-duty straps.

Strap down anything that will hurt if it hits you. Always remember that all supplies inside your vehicle must be contained in a way that will prevent bodily injury during rough riding and extreme maneuvers. As an aftermath of the hit, you might loose your consciousness on the road.

Since you got a large vehicle, it is always a good idea to take friends along so safety reasons. Just make sure that your will not be damaged as the occupants enter your vehicle.

Remember to always stay with your vehicle in a breakdown situation and wait for an aide.

Despite the fact that you should not overload your Jeep, you must still always bring with you driver's license, proof of insurance, money, emergency kits, and some food and drinks. Also remember to let someone know where you are going, regardless if you are an expert or a neophyte. As the saying goes, "Prevention is better than cure".
