Nissan North America recently announced the pricing for the new Nissan NISMO 350Z which is slated to hit showrooms by July. The said car will be introduced in the North American auto market with a host of unique features which sets it apart from other trim levels of the Z car. One of these new features is an aerodynamic kit which gives the NISMO 350Z lesser coefficient of drag.
Pricing for the Nissan NISMO 350Z will start at $38,070. It will only be available with a six-speed manual transmission. Nissan also announced that interested buyers of the new NISMO 350Z can already pre-order to have the chance to be one of the first to drive the new car in the United States.
"This is the first time in the Nissan Z's 37-year history that a NISMO-branded model is part of the extensive Z lineup," says Bill Bosley, the vice president and general manager of the Nissan Division. "NISMO is known around the world as the premier supplier of high-performance and racing parts and accessories for Nissan vehicles. The NISMO 350Z is geared towards enthusiasts who want the ultimate 350Z straight from the factory performance experts."
The aerodynamic package offered with the NISMO 350Z is consisted of chin spoilers, side skirts, an extended rear fascia and a rear wing. The addition of these components complements other existing Nissan parts such as the and the likes. This gives the NISMO 350Z better handling and ride comfort than its siblings.
Another improvement made to the NISMO 350Z compared to the other Z cars is its sport-tuned suspension system. It has a multi-link suspension system. For stopping power, the Nissan NISMO 350Z is equipped with Brembo brakes with four-piston and two-piston calipers. Even the wheels used on the NISMO 350Z is designed for a better performance and traction. It uses NISMO-branded alloy wheels.
Inside the coupe, Nissan apparently dedicated a lot of effort to make the NISMO 350Z luxurious. The car is equipped with one-of-a-kind cloth seats with red inserts which accentuates the color scheme of the interior. A NISMO plaque is also etched into the steering wheel which gives indication that the car is a limited edition vehicle.
Powering the NISMO 350Z is the newly-developed VQ35HR 3.5-liter V6 engine which is designed to produce as much as 306 horsepower at 6,800 revolutions per minute. It also produces 268 lb-ft of torque at 6,400 revs per minute. The engine is equipped with a variable exhaust cam timing or eCVTCS. It is also equipped with a ram air intake system which makes the engine more fuel efficient. A tuned exhaust, NISMO-branded is also part of the NISMO 350Z's offering. This exhaust system gives the NISMO 350Z a different sound than its siblings.
"The NISMO 350Z is designed for enthusiasts who want a Z that makes a statement and is a testament to their love of driving," says Bosley. "It has the appearance that stands out from the crowd and the performance to back it up."
Aside from the NISMO variant, the 350Z Coupe is available in Base, Enthusiast, Touring, and Grand Touring models. The 350Z Roadster, on the other hand, is available in Enthusiast, Touring, and Grand Touring trim levels. NISMO is an abbreviation for Nissan Motorsports and is the performance division of Nissan.
