Nissans Qashqai Attains Highest Safety Rating With Autoliv

By: Anthony Fontanelle

It has been reported recently that the Nissan QASHQAI received the highest safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP). The crossover vehicle marketed by the Asian car manufacturer in Europe has already attracted the attention of European car buyers due to its good looks and high level of performance. But the awarding of the highest safety rating to the QASHQAI increased its popularity more. The high marks received by the QASHQAI are mainly due to the design of the car and the reliability of its safety systems. These safety systems are provided by Autoliv to the Japanese car manufacturer.

The Nissan QASHQAI received the highest safety mark for any vehicle in its protection of grownups. Various tests have been conducted on the crossover utility vehicle to determine how the vehicle can protect its occupants in cases of front, side, and rear collisions. The tests also include determining the ability of the vehicle to resist rollovers.

Speaking about the partnership that gave the QASHQAI the outstanding safety ratings, Mr. Jan Carlson, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Autoliv, has this to say: "We are very proud to have participated in the development program that has driven Nissan to this successful result for the Nissan QASHQAI. We are very pleased with the results of this cooperation. The basis for this productive cooperation is, of course, Nissan's own ambitions and efforts in automotive safety, which we were happy to support with our innovative safety technologies."

Autoliv supplies different safety technologies to Nissan which includes the QASHQAI's passenger airbags. Aside from that, Autoliv also delivers inflatable curtains which are engineered to protect the head of the occupants of the vehicles in the unfortunate case of a side collision. Side-impact airbags which protects the chest of passengers and drivers of the Nissan QASHQAI is also provided by the Swedish-American company which is based in Stockholm, Sweden. The company also worked with Nissan in testing the effectiveness of their safety features before the production version of the QASHQAI was finally mass produced and marketed. The company's safety features can be complemented by the efficient brake parts such as which provide stopping power. The development of the safety features for the QASHQAI was also a joint effort of Autoliv and Nissan.

With the result of the crash tests done to the QASHQAI, it is plain to see that the partnership between the two companies has paid off. The Euro NCAP is considered as one of the most respectable car safety rating institutes and the success of the Nissan QASHQAI is an indication that safe cars can look good.
