Sponsorships Go a Long Way Towards Keeping Sports Teams in Play

By: Joe D'eramo

Although many school and town programs have not eliminated sports altogether, the programs must be funded privately through sponsors and participants.

True believers that "the game must go on," Richard Chevrolet of Cheshire noted that it is up to the business community to help keep the sports programs thriving.

Richard Chevrolet sponsors a team in the Cheshire Youth Baseball and Softball league and they contribute to the Cheshire High School Baseball Parents Association.? They also sponsor a Southington Youth baseball field in Southington and sponsor the Southington Adult Softball league.

"Although some of the cost is paid for by the participants, there is still a need for sponsors to assist with other expenses such as uniforms, equipment, playing fields, transportation and so forth,"? explained Jason Vianese of Richard Chevrolet.? He continued, "We've stepped up to the plate and we encourage like-minded businesses to do the same."
