The midsize luxury segment continues to be a hotbed of fiery competition as different automakers showcase their cream-of-the-crop vehicles. Enthusiasts' passion for midsize luxury cars have not waned yet. As a fact, passion grows stronger each day as reflected by the escalating sales. To keep the competition hotter, Volvo delivers the Volvo S80 model, which is said to be a viable threat to other midsize luxury cars.
Volvo enters the auto scene with dynamic design language, improved ergonomics, powerful performance and world-class safety. The car is delivered with the aim of attracting the most demanding car aficionados. "The all new S80 is entering an immensely tough sector where the competition is razor-sharp and the customers have very high expectations. We are now challenging the best in the segment with a very special car. It radiates what we call 'Scandinavian Luxury', clean and elegant lines and intelligent functionality where every single detail has been designed with the user's well-being in mind," said Fredrik Arp, the President and CEO of Volvo Cars.
The Volvo S80's aura is inviting and intelligent. Volvo's engineers specially designed it to showcase prestige by combining aesthetics and technology in a whole new light. Volvo's Scandinavian luxury differs from the traditional luxury in the sense that the latter bases its appeal on being expensive, excluding and elitist. "The new S80 is about evolutionary design. All the shapes and materials represent a continuous development of our design language. On the outside we have given the S80 a more compact, youthful and dynamic stance. Inside we have created an even more inviting atmosphere with refined materials and colors that blend smoothly with smart, user-friendly technology," noted Volvo Cars' design director Steve Mattin.
Engine range for the Volvo S80 includes the V8 that generates 315 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque. The engine has 4 catalytic converters and sophisticated electronics. It is one of the cleanest engines in the market these days. The engine range also includes the five-cylinder 2.5 liter turbo with 200 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque; and all-new in-line 3.2 liters that produces 238 horsepower and Nm of torque. The all-new Volvo S80 now includes the new naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine and the in-house developed five-cylinder turbo diesel with 185 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.
The car is the first Volvo model to offer the Cruise Control with Collision Warning and Brake Support. One of the functions of the system is to automatically maintain a chosen distance to the vehicle in front. Another function is to alert the driver by activating the buzzer and warning lights. It also prepares the braking system for the situation so as to make braking more effective and reliable.
With regards ergonomics, the car is elegant and comfy inside out. It uses state-of-the-art amenities and accessories to boost classy ambience. Stylish
