New Developments in Arizona: Which Ones Right for You?

By: Steve Proski

There are quite a few new developments in Arizona, and it can be confusing to those wanting to buy a home. Let's take a look at what's available, and what sets in apart from the other communities.

If you like downtown Phoenix, the Copper Square area has a lot to offer. Many new condo developments have sprung up in the past year or so. Surrounded by a new convention center and lots of great restaurants and shopping, this vibrant area has much to offer buyers who enjoy the pace of downtown living. Classy lofts with open concepts, hardwood flooring and exposed pipes and ducts have a unique charm. Finish them any way you like, or leave them raw for that special loft character. Upper floors boast great views. Orpheum Lofts is one of my favorites, with genuine art deco architecture that has been lovingly restored. Copper Square is considered the heart of the historic downtown, and lofts are one of the popular ways of celebrating the best of historic design with modern convenience.

If you don't like lofts, there's also plenty of smaller townhomes and rowhouses in the downtown Phoenix area. Many of these have nice courtyards, or are nearby local parks.

If you're looking at Scottsdale, there are lots of master-planned communities which may appeal. If you like golf, Troon North and Grayhawk are both gorgeous golf communities with two high quality courses each, while the community of Legend Trail boasts a great course, too. Both Legend Trail and Grayhawk include about 640 acres of natural space for your enjoyment and the preservation of local wildlife, and both focus on resort living. Troon North is "casual yet elegant". All three communities have huge clubhouses with all the amenities you'd expect.

Desert Mountain has five golf courses, and the view down into Scottsdale can't be beat. This community has raw land available, as well as a number of pre-built quality homes. Come for the golf, stay for the sunsets.

Estancia is a gated community on the northern slope of Pinnacle Peak. This luxury community offers custom home sites as well as a number of high-end villas. The views of the desert are something to live for in Estancia.

DC Ranch is a community offering choice, with a variety of distinct neighborhoods blending in casually with the landscape. Another high-altitude place with awesome views. Homes here range from high-end but affordable to all-out luxury homes. Some custom lots are still available.

Aviano, at Desert Ridge is another quality development, with a community center, fitness center, pool, etc. Spanish influenced architecture by Toll Brothers makes this community unique. The homes are very large and stunning.

I just can't mention all the new developments in the Phoenix metro area. There are too many to list. With so many homes available, now is the time to find your dream home in Arizona.
