Abdication of Wounds

by : Satish Verma

Like islands in the sea on fire
and embankment crumbling,
split amygdalas of trusted men -
drew them to start a chain of murders.

I come on my knees
witnessing a tragedy of a city,
digging its accursed soil
to bring out t he remains of guilt.

For appeasing dust,
you sliced the heart and brain
put them to fog and mire
and cheated the childhood,
innocent buds of future.

Humanity suffered on the road,
came closer to archaic shredding of bones.
No body shop will do a religious job
of spiral abdication of wounds.
