West Virginia- Adventure runs high in the Mountain State

Recently names a top mountain biking destination by people who know what they are talking about, the International Mountain Biking Association, West Virginia gives you plenty of great scenery to enjoy across the handlebars.

Parkersburg is located along the Ohio River and is home to the man-made beauty of Fenton Art Glass and Middleton Dolls as well as the natural beauty that can be found along the North Bend State Park and Rail Trail. Plan a romantic getaway packed with golf, fishing, hiking and biking, but don’t forget to save some time for relaxing.

Also on the Ohio River, Wheeling is a charming city that will make you feel right at home. The river beckons you to get out and enjoy all of the natural beauty of the area. For fast-paced thrills the Wheeling Island Racktrack and Gaming Center offers live greyhound racing, slots and a great selection of restaurants.

Talk about fast paced – you’ll want to be safely in the stands when the Mountaineers at West Virginia University take the field for college football. After the game keep the energy level high with an adventure on the rapids of the Cheat River. Then you’ll surely need a relaxing spa treatment to soothe those aching muscles.

A short 90-minute drive from Washington DC is the historic spa town of Berkley Springs. Thanks to warm mineral springs the area has four pampering full-service spas.
