- Oldest Road - Serangoon Road is possibly Singapore’s oldest road, marked on ancient maps as “The Road Through the Island”.
- Longest Road - Yio Chu Kang Road is the longest road in Singapore, apart from expressways, measuring about 14km.
- Shortest Road - The shortest road in Singapore is not Short Street or Lorong Pendek. But, it is Tua Kong Green, measuring only 25m long!
- Road Length - Singapore has more than 3,500km of paved roads, including 150km of expressways. Stretched from on end to another, they can cover the distance from Singapore to China.
- Singapore’s Symbol of Tourism – It is none other than the Merlion. There are five official Merlion statues in Singapore. They can be found at :

- Singapore’s Tallest Building – OUB Centre, UOB Plaza or Republic Plaza are Singapore’s tallest buildings. Surprisingly, they all measure the same at 280 meters.
- Singapore’s Highest Hill - The highest natural point in Singapore is Bukit Timah Hill at 166m.
- Singapore’s First Cinema - Located in Beach road and started operation in 1930's by Jubilee Theatre
- Singapore's Oldest Temple - Tian Hock Kheng built in 1842 is the oldest & most important temple in Singapore.
- The Guinnes Book of Records named the old Kandang Kerbau Maternity Hospital as the hospital where most babies were born in a year. In 1966, 39,835 babies were delivered.
- World’s Highest Man-Made Waterfall - With a fall of 30m, Singapore houses the world’s highest man-made waterfall. This is located within the aviary at the Jurong Bird Park which was opened in January 1971.
- World’s First Night Zoo – Found in the north western part of Singapore, The Night Safari is the world’s first night zoo, spreading over 40 hectares of land. It was opened in May 1994 and entertains about 900,000 visitors a year
- World’s Largest Orchid Display - The National Orchid garden within the Singapore Botanic Gardens has the world’s largest orchid display with more than 60,000 plants.
- Worlds Largest Fountain - The Fountain of Wealth at Suntec City entered in the Guinnes Book of Records in 1998 as the World’s Largest Fountain. It has a base area of 1,690 sq m and from this base is a four-legged bronze frame that weighs 85,000kg. Water from the fountain shoots up to as high as 30m.
- World’s Fastest “SMSer” - Kimberly Yeo, a 23-year-old Business Administration student, took only 43.24 seconds to sms “The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrsaalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human.” That earned her a spot in the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s fastest SMSer.
- World’s Number One Ranked Swimmer – In 1982, swimmer Ang Peng Siong was ranked as the world’s number one in the 50m Freestyle.
- SEA Games - The first Singaporean to win a gold medal in the Southeast Peninsular Games (renamed SEA Games) was Tan Eng Yoon, in the 400m hurdles, in 1959.
- Olympic Games - Singapore’s best showing in the Olympic Games is a silver medal won by weightlifter Tan Howe Liang in Rome in 1960. His record is still unbeaten.
