People do not call Singapore a shopper’s paradise for nothing. Just three MRT stations away from the Orchard Road shopping belt, giant retail mall Marina Square has been packing in the crowds for the past year.

A vast improvement from the drab and sleepy mall it was just a little more than a year ago, the newly revamped 700,000 square feet space now features a whole host of retailers that will send shopaholics into hysterics. In an attempt to make the new mega-mall more consumer-friendly, the different levels houses brands that will appeal to a targeted group. Known brands like Topshop and Zara take up residency at the lower levels while, the top level will appeal to the young, the street-smart and the vibrant. To up the commercial value,

Golden Village cinemas, a food court, bowling alley, video arcade, pool arcade and Giant supermarket have been included in the options. Definitely a treat for everyone and anyone.

Not wanting to miss out on the annual Great Singapore Sale starting from June, Marina Square has added incentives than just discounts. Shops extended their opening hours to the wee hours of the morning. Along with that, the mall is located in close proximity to other attractions such Citylink underground mall , Suntec City and Raffles City Shopping Centre. That’s definitely a major draw for this all-under-one-roof haven. And if you’re a tourist visiting Singapore, there are plenty of world-class hotels around the area such as The Oriental, Marina Mandarin, Conrad International, Pan Pacific and the Ritz Carlton. After all, you don’t fully experience Singapore till you take part in one of it’s guiltiest pleasures.

However, nothing good comes without a price. While retail therapy will please your inner soul, your bladder will be screaming otherwise. Despite its huge space, restrooms there are very limited. An advice I have is to head straight for the cinemas, where there are more restrooms and hardly ever a line.
