Club-hoppers would enjoy this row of clubs. This scene promotes a lively, vibrant social atmosphere due to the intense mingling inside and outside of the joints. Needless to say, the streets themselves are emanating the party mood, and with the excited interaction going on with people running around the aforesaid streets, the cars passing through tend to drive more slowly.
The latter occurrence could possibly also be attributed to passing through a good point to flash their fancy cars… This is the very road to do it. The hippest people are here. Here where the world spins around the highlife and music plays non-stop. To immerse yourself in this existence for a time will surely be an unforgettable experience. In its heyday (60’s & 70’s), this street was bustling with business and trading activity because of its close proximity to the Singapore River. Unfortunately due to the modernization of Singapore, Mohamed Sultan Road became unoccupied and rundown for a long time. The place however took a turn when the government decided to turn it into a club/restaurant centre some ten years ago when Singapore was beginning to grow in the entertainment industry. And since then, it flourished.
- Today
Mohamed Sultan today is primarily known to be one of Singapore’s hottest clubbing district & pub-crawlers’ paradise. While it is an exciting place to be at on a Friday and Saturday night, don’t expect as much action during the week.
With a myriad of clubs dotting the entire stretch of Mohamed Sultan Road, it is a dream come true for the bona fide ‘club-hopper’. The road also branches off to Robertson Quay and Martin Road, which boasts some memorable cafés, art galleries and restaurants.

A brand new club called Butterfactory made its opening at the Riverside 48 on 11 March 2006. Despite Zouk’s revamp and MOS’ launch, Butterfactory received a very good response; the club is frequently jammed-packed with gyrating bodies on the dance floor. It is no wonder this R&B/Hiphop club is so hawt! … the art work so painstakingly created and chosen for the décor, the worldly, beautiful people embellishing the club, and the good selection of hiphop sounds mixed to perfection. It is rare to find an R&B club of this classy standard in Singapore! Their theme reminds you of the street with its artistic lifestyle designs, and then also the glossy high society.
