Fort Siloso is the only coastal fortress in Singapore. Built in the 1880s on Sentosa's western end, Fort Siloso role was to protect the entrance to the Singapore Harbour. During World War II, the guns of Fort Siloso engaged Japanese forces in the Battle for Singapore, even firing landwards in support of the British troops.

Main highlights of the Fort Siloso include the exhibition on the history of Pulau Belakang Mati (now known as Sentosa), where memories are displayed through more than 245 photographs, documents and film clips. There are life-sized replicas of people with colonial-style dressing and authentic aromas - from the smells of detergent in the Laundry Room to the whiffs of sizzling bacon in the Cook House. A unique place to look into Singapore's colonial past.
