About
Upper Serangoon is one of Singapore 's bustling heartlands with long blocks of shop houses and basic amenities like schools, supermarkets, wet markets, void-deck shops and a shopping mall. The heartlanders are also treated to the wide selection of coffee shops, hawkers and cafes available here. If that is not envying enough, the two famous nasi lemak stalls in Singapore, Punggol Nasi Lemak Centre and Chong Pang Nasi Lemak, are located here.

History
Upper Serangoon has its own ghastly tale to tell. On 28 February 1942, during World War II, nearly 1000 Chinese males residing near Upper Serangoon Road were held captive by the Japanese military police. These captives were brought to the nearby Punggol Point and massacred. The cruel procedure was known as Operation Sook Chin or the Punggol Beach Massacre.

Residential
Upper Serangoon is better known as a HDB heartland, but it also houses a fair share of condominiums and bungalows.
