About
Full of industrial estates and factories, Sungei Kadut resembles perhaps half of Singapore. At least this estate has a pleasant view, overlooking the Kranji Reservoir and NSRCC Kranji Sanctuary Golf Course in the neighbouring district.
History
Sungei Kadut refers to a river that runs through Woodlands, passes Kranji and ends in Bukit Timah. The district came to inherit the name of this river. An old school by that name, i.e., Sungei Kadut School , is now Woodlands Primary School.
Industries
Most of the industries in Sungei Kadut deal with wood – the remains of the actual jungle are put inside this concrete one. Timber, rattan, cane, and other types of wood come to Sungei Kadut to be processed. The processing of wood, together with carpentry, and the finished product, are all carried out in this estate.
There are, however, also other building materials being processed in Sungei Kadut. Stones such as marble and materials such as concrete are also manufactured and processed here. In addition, Sungei Kadut houses engineering and construction companies like Solid Steel Construction. Some electronics firms, e.g., Kenwood Industries, also belong in this industrial estate.
