Size & Population: 11 Sq km with an estimated 10,000 residents.

About: There are seven sub-zones in Sengkang mainly Sungei Serangoon East, Sungei Serangoon West, Sengkang Town Centre, Buangkok, Trafalgar, Jalan Kayu East and Jalan Kayu West.

History: Sengkang came from a road called Lorong Sengkang (which no longer exists). Sengkang means “prosperous harbour” in Chinese. The area was formerly known as Kangkar, or ”foot of the port” in Hokkien as there was once a fishing port along Sungei Serangoon. Fishing villages and pepper and rubber plantations also once flourished in this area.

Residential:Lots of residential properties available here. However, do note that the HDB houses in Sengkang tend to be much smaller than in other areas. New homes flanking Sungei Serangoon and Sungei Punggol will offer breathtaking views as well as opportunities for water sports and other recreational activities.
