There are many sports teams that play on artificial turf, including football, baseball, hockey, rugby, tennis, cricket, netball, bowls and many others. In the United States, artificial turf is most commonly used for football stadiums. Synthetic putting greens for golfer are also very common. There are many reasons that so many sports organizations, both professional and recreational, are going synthetic. These surfaces are designed thinking of players in mind and do not cause carbon emissions from petrol driven lawn mowers or an excess of pollution from water runoff carrying chemicals into the drains. There are many reasons that so many sports teams have installed artificial turf, but one of the main reasons why it initially became popular was to cut back on water consumption, which provides both cost savings and environmental benefits. Golf courses, for example, are one of the largest water consumers in the United States. Synthetic putting greens change all that. A great deal of water can be saved when an artificial grass company installs the lawn for a golf course, sports field, commercial/residential area, street median, public space, park, playground or apartment building. Unlike synthetic putting greens, which require very little maintenance, one natural golf course may require a million gallons of water a day during summer. A football field or baseball diamond for a professional sports team has similar requirements during playing season. And unlike artificial turf, real grass may be soaked by pesticides and fertilizers, not to mention the gas used to power riding lawnmowers. When artificial turf is used on only 750 square feet of residential area it can save 22,000 gallons of water per year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and Irvine Ranch Water District. An artificial grass company can clearly provide many benefits to professional sports teams, amateur sports facilities and residential homeowners alike.
In southern California, there is a constant concern over using too much water in order to keep your lawn and grass surrounding your home green, but you don't want to be the only homeowner in your area that does not have a beautiful, green and lush lawn, thus making you the eye sore of the neighborhood. So what do you, as an environmentally conscious citizen, do?
Luckily, there are alternatives to having to maintain an expensive grass, such as putting in artificial grass in all of your lawn. An artificial turf is a great alternative, as the money that would be used to be able to pay the water bill, would be saved year after year. The artificial grass is also great because the color does not fade, so you don't have to worry about having patches of yellow or brown grass from a lack of fertilizer or watering.
Artificial grass has a great following with men and women who enjoy low maintenance lawns, as they don't have to worry about mowing their synthetic turf every other week as if they would with a regular live lawn. This makes artificial turf a wise choice for elderly men and women, or for those who might not be able to properly maintain their lawn because of physical disability. There is even synthetic grass that is comfortable to walk on, as it is softer and more lush than some real grass that's out there planted.
Artificial turf does have a cost, obviously, as it does cost the new buyer to be able to have the artificial turf properly placed into the yard. But the cost of putting in the synthetic grass is much lower than the long run amount of money that you would have to pay in order to be able to keep your real grass green and beautiful.
