[C1323]Cure To Bad Breath

Brushing and flossing remove bacteria and the food bacteria feast on so that they can no longer create volatile sulfur compounds. Sadly, many people do not brush long enough to remove bacteria from their teeth. It takes two to three minutes to brush all tooth surfaces yet most people spend less than a minute brushing their teeth.

Worse yet, few people take the time to floss allowing odor producing bacteria to grow rampantly in the spaces between your teeth. Brushing without flossing is like washing only seventy percent of your body when you bathe of which the other 30% remains dirty.

Prevention through brushing or flossing
While brushing and flossing are crucial first steps, brushing and flossing do not always eliminate bad breath. This is because odor-causing bacteria hide deep within the crevices of the tongue. Ironically, many of these bacteria are anaerobic meaning they cannot live in oxygen.

They live safe from oxygen under a protective layer of mucous, food particles and proteins. Cleaning your tongue with a tongue cleaner can remove this layer and much of the bacteria that reside on your tongue. Remember to clean near the back of the tongue where most of the bacteria resides but be careful not to gag yourself.

Use of other preventions
Halitosis, to give bad breath its medical name, which affects many human beings, with research suggesting that 98 per cent of us suffer from it at some time in our lives. But the good news is that yet much one hate the thought of having bad breath, it is a temporary condition and one can banish it for good.

Mouthwashes containing chlorine dioxide are the latest advances against bad breath. Conventional mouthwashes at best only temporarily mask bad breath odor. At worst, conventional mouthwashes can make the situation worse by drying out the mouth making it more hospitable to odor producing bacteria.

Chlorine dioxide has been used for years to sanitize water supplies. In these mouthwashes the chlorine dioxide directly attacks the volatile sulfur compounds responsible for bad breath.

If you can't brush after a meal or snack consider chewing sugarless gum. This chewing action helps cleanse the teeth and stimulates the flow of saliva. Saliva in turn further helps to cleanse the mouth and dissolves odorous volatile sulfur compounds. One should make sure, however, to use gum that does not contain sugar.

Often the reason is simply down to bad oral hygiene. If you do not regularly brush your teeth you will experience bad breath. And a coated furry tongue is often a sign of indigestion, smoking or dehydration, all of which can produce the problems of malodorous breath.

A person can suffer from bad breath for many different reasons. If you're dealing with bad breath, along with all those around you, you owe it to yourself to find the specific cause. That's the only way you can pinpoint the correct treatment and, for some people, the most effective treatment for bad breath is Zantac. Usually, it's related to a digestive disorder.

Bad breath and a condition called a "peptic ulcer"

More often than not, bad breath can be traced back to bacteria in the body that has its hand in other illnesses. There are unique odors that certain bacteria have that surface in the form of bad breath or some other bodily odor. Research has shown that peptic ulcers are often the result of a bacterium. What happens is that chronic infection of this type can cause a person to experience reflux and sometimes vomiting that can create bad breath. However, there is medication available to combat the effects of a peptic ulcer. They are called "H2 blockers" and Zantac is one of them.

So, how does Zantac actually cure bad breath?

When you have a peptic ulcer, you have more than just a bad breath problem---you're suffering from the pain of heartburn and reflux. What Zantac so effectively does is decrease the indigestion you get from an ulcer. And it does its job within your stomach. As it works to eliminate your heartburn and reflux, a happy side effect is that it kills whatever odors may have been caused by them. Zantac can be a sure-fire way to treat your bad breath. Also note that your doctor may wish to treat your ulcer with antibiotics. Sometimes, that is the only to conquer bacteria when your body seems helpless to it. But don't worry...the combination of both treatments greatly increase the chance of curing your bad breath.

Speaking of doctors, you should talk to one...

Chronic bad breath is not something you ignore. In fact, it may be the sign of a bigger, more serious problem. If you can't seem to shake the "offender" by normal means, make an appointment right away! You doctor can perform tests that can narrow down your bad breath problem and prescribe the proper treatment. Also, you'll want to inform him (or her) if you have frequent indigestion or heart burn. When all is said and done, Zantac might be the only way to cure your bad breath problem.

You can find Zantac at your local drug store---it's over the counter. However, some people need prescription-strength stuff and that's available for you too. Whatever happens, you should let your doctor decide. It's always better to get an expert opinion rather than trying to self-medicate.
