It isn't an easy question to answer, so with a little bit of bias to my home county I shall let you know a little about the English Lake District.

The English Lake District is in the county of Cumbria in the North of England. It has a much higher than average rainfall than most of the rest of the country and as a consequence has an abundance of Lakes. These range in size from the Largest Lake in England, Windermere, at nearly 11 miles long to the smallest of tarns, which measure only a few meters across.

All of the individual pockerts of water are accessible as the Lake District is a National Park. As long as you have a sensible attitude to looking after the countryside, you are pretty well free to roam where ever you wish.

It is a wonderful place to visit and should not be avoided due to the weather. It may rain often in The Lake District, but not as often as Manchester for example.
