If you need to find something interesting, relevant and appealing on the web, the best people to tell you where to find it are the website review sites. A panel of reviewers take the time to search the web for various websites and test them out in several areas, depending on what purpose they are reviewing it for.

They find out if the site is easy to navigate, if the content is relevant to what the site is about, any interesting features available in the site etc.

Website review sites are categorised somewhat broadly, so they are quite general in display. When you visit a website review site, you'll see that if the category is computers and electronics, everything from computer hard discs to tutorials are listed under it.

Each review site has a different criteria, so every website they review will be rated according to specific standards expected from the particular website type. For example, a website for selling ebooks won't be reviewed on the same standards as a website for free photoshop tutorials.

The common judgment areas include navigation ease, content organisation, content relevancy and features such as animations and dynamic content. Sometimes, the frequency of updates on the website are also considered.

For website owners, getting their site evaluated, reviewed and ranked is an excellent way to acquire more exposure in the internet marketing arena and get a good reputation. High ranking websites are more visible on web searches, so by getting a website review site to rank your website ensures increased popularity and more web traffic. Another important factor is the impartial judgment you receive, which gives more credibility to your website.

By getting a website reviewed by an authoritative group and having it ranked in a place such as a website reviewing site also lets the internet surfer find it more easily. Information about the various reviewed sites are also easily available in these sites, so by visiting a website review site before trying out anything on a specific site, you'll find out if it's worth your time and effort to get involved. This is especially true when you want to buy and sell online.

Some website review sites may ask you to pay a nominal fee in advance to get your website reviewed and ranked. Others provide the service at no cost to you. Website reviews are also found in some personal blogs, but they are usually partial to specific sites and might not give a complete overview.
