How To Create A Romantic Bedroom
by Melina Dean, Mel
It is important for a woman to create just the right seductive setting for her bedroom! Her bedroom (or boudoir) should be like a goddess's sacred place - where love & sensuality reign supreme. When Napoleon wrote to Josephine: 'All my thoughts are concentrated in your boudoir, in your bed, on your heart.' - I am almost certain that Josephine's bedroom was never a space that could have been described as drab or plain! Some themes to consider could be French Provencal or even a more exotic 'Arabian Nights'.

*Tip: The best place to start working on creating a new boudoir is: your bed.

Your bed's particular look & style will be like the entire blueprint for your room! To create the romantic look, go for covering your bed in high quality bedding made with silky-slippery fabrics that please the senses; fabrics such as - silk, satin or velvet. The sheets should be made with materials such as satin, 100% cotton percale or sateen.

Percale & sateen should ideally be at least a 200-250 thread count. As the finishing touch to the bed, place a well-chosen selection of matching pillows & cushions on the top. When it comes to the color scheme, it is important to choose the rich shades of colors that bring to the mind sumptuous scenes of romance & passion.

Once the bed is completed, move on to floor rugs, artwork, curtains & draperies. you may even consider a new coat of paint! Decorating a bedroom that is well suited for lovers is never a decision that is taken lightly; for not only does the room have to reflect a woman's personality & regenerate its inhabitants; it is like creating a personal cocoon that soothes the senses & enhances intimacy.

This same bedroom also has to be able to bring out a sense of forgetting all about the time - the moment you step into it. To achieve this sense, the first thing you need to do is remove any TV & computer! Then, you must get to work cleaning up the clutter & removing anything at all that reminds you of work or unpleasantness.

You can decorate the bedside tables with beautiful objects like; lead light or beaded lamps, Diptyque candles, hand-blown glass oil burners, Venetian glass picture frames or beautiful figurines. You could also place some books of love poetry there if you are into that kind of thing. If you like to read, a good idea may be to have a

comfortable reading chair in a corner of the room.

The dressing table is very suitable for having a vase filled with flowers sitting on it. You can also add pretty perfume bottles & include a suitable selection of essential oils, fragrances & massage oils there - that can help to bring out your sensual mood.

Let there be soft light... when it comes to choosing lighting for a woman's boudoir, a good rule of thumb is to keep it subdued. Dimmers come in handy here. *Tip: use a low wattage pink light bulb that will cast a gentle & relaxing hue. Pink light bulbs are also very flattering to the naked female body! Wall sconces & candelabras also go well with the whole romantic lighting theme.

This love-nest is supposed to be all about you & your lover, so don't be afraid to spend some time planning this very special environment!
