We’ve all seen the words over and over. “Magic", “Secrets", “Instant", “New", and so on. You can’t help but at least wonder about a product when these words are used to describe them but at the same time you also have to wonder if it’s all just hype. I mean c’mon now. Can it really be THAT good?
Therein lies the problem. There are some products where these bold, descriptive words can work in the promotion of a product. However, probably more times than not they turn out to be just hype created to separate the buyer from their money. Sad but true.
When promoting your product, avoid the tendency to over hype it. You can’t paint such a vivid picture in the mind of your prospect about your product that it will most certainly fail to meet expectations and you will have an unhappy customer on your hands. What happens is that you “under-deliver". That will only build unhappy customers and the word will spread fast. On top of that you will be returning lots of money to those unhappy customers and they will unsubscribe from your list. *POOF* You’ve now ruined your reputation from which you will have a really tough time recovering from if it is even possible.
Never “over-inflate" your descriptions OR “over-inflate" its dollar value. It will only get you into trouble in the long run.
Please don’t misunderstand me. Powerful, descriptive words have, well…power. They make your prospects sit up and take notice. They make the prospect want to know more and more about your product. They can convert browsers into buyers. You just want to make absolutely sure that your product not only meets your descriptions in every way but that it also exceeds your descriptions. It MUST do exactly what you say it will and then some. If not, you’re asking for trouble.
Keep Your Chin Up!
If you’ve been at internet marketing very long or even just researching it trying to prepare to launch your business, you know how discouraging it can be at times. No matter what you do or how hard you try it seems that nothing goes right. We’ve all been there. The fact is life itself can be that way. However, we’ve got to keep on keeping on if we are going to succeed.
It’s so hard to stay positive when everything around us seems to be crumbling at our feet irregardless of our best efforts to thwart the negativity. It’s tough to convince ourselves that it’s only a temporary setback when there seems no end in sight. However, maybe if we just learn to look at setbacks a bit differently it will help to change our mindset into a more positive energy.
Everyone fails from time to time despite trying so hard not to. On the other hand, are they even really failures? Let me give you an example. If I set a goal of say, signing up 100 new subscribers for the month but only get 50, is that really a failure? Looking at it from another angle, I just learned how to successfully get 50 new subscribers. I now know that if I double my efforts next month I should be able to get in the neighborhood of 100 subscribers. So the reality is, even though I missed my target goal, I still accomplished something very worthwhile so it really wasn’t a failure after all. Hey I actually feel better about not reaching my target goal. See how a small change can work wonders for our attitude?
We are bombarded every day about so many negative things. Some close to us and more personal and others farther away but on a much bigger scale. Wars, hunger and disease to name but a few. Murders, destruction and others crimes seem to run rampant. Couple those with the more personal things we come up against and it seems near impossible to stay positive and focused. There are so many little things at a more subconscious level that we don’t even notice. It may sound silly but, most folks call a traffic light a stop light. Why I’m not sure because it also tells us when to go. For some reason the most common name is a negative one using the word stop.
The fact is our mind is molded by what we put into it the most. Negative things go in, negative things come out. If we can change our perception even just a little, there will be more positive things going in. Positive in, positive out.
Easier said than done? Is that what I heard you say? *AHEM* You’re still thinking negatively!! Change the way you think and change your life. You can make it better if you keep your chin up!
