Remember days when we were close and warm   As night turned to dawn   Long heated summer days of sun and wine   Seemed too short at the time      I would gladly make you happy   I would surely try   But you feel you must be free, so   I must say so long and kiss you goodbye      'Cause I won't be your stepping stone   No, I won't be your stepping stone   No, I won't be your stepping stone   No, I won't be your stepping stone      Remember fresh and sweet the thought of summer ways   Loving nights - lazy days   Warm scented evenings when we shared a lot to say   Now the words fade away      I would love to make you hapy   I would surely try   But you feel you must be free, so   I must say so long and kiss you goodbye      'Cause I won't be your stepping stone   No, I won't be your stepping stone   No, I won't be your stepping stone   No, I won't be your stepping stone
