smile for me   it isn't that hard   i know you'll let me down   before i even have a chance      could we laugh over coffee?   act like it was nothing   i think so   but i think we both know it's something      or at least i know   and you can just pretend   it seems   that's the way it's always been      i guess it's just easier   to just close your eyes   and write it off   as another close call      conversations   as long as the bridges between us   yet i'm still on the other side   whispering your name along with the wind      i guess i like to entertain    the thought of beaches remaining the same   and the coast is clear   but we're still in the dark.
