Wait for me   Wait for me    By the stage door   Slip between the barricades   that blink & block the alley   like soldiers   I want to see you when I come   I want to see you when I come    round the corner   underneath the street lamp   that's been dressed for Christmas since summer   A break in the clouds   A sky full of stars   and I feel   like you've been here   all along      Close your eyes   I'll lead you into the wings   heave on the ropes that keep the curtains tied   Lights in the empty room   turn dust into a starry sky   Seats are like shoulders   dressed up in imaginary suits & ties   And in my heart   A break in the clouds   Can we stand on this empty stage   Can we stand on this empty stage and   take a bow?      Will you wait for me?   Will you wait for me?   the world is cold   & I can't hold on   I can only let go   Give me this moment   For the rest of my life   I want you   I want you   By my side
