We spoke of kingdoms and their kings   Destroyed and overthrown   We spoke of wealth and freedom here   That we have never known      You spoke of wounded flesh and souls   Forgiven of their sins   You spoke of wealth and freedom   That the Father gives within   We heard You say You were the Son of God Himself,   And that salvation came from You and comes from no one else      And we saw it was…      CHORUS:   A little lower, a little darker   A little weaker, a little harder   Than we all thought it would be   Than we all thought it would be      We sought glory from other men   To show us who we were   We sought to be perfection   in our living laws and words      But You sought nothing but the lost   To show us Who You were   You sought our imperfections   And You died to make us pure      We heard You say You were the Son of God Himself   And that salvation came from You and comes from no one else      And we saw it was…      CHORUS      And we never knew our longing was so deep   Until we saw You on Your knees washing our feet      And we saw You were…      A little lower, a little poorer   A little weaker, a little more   Than we all thought You would be   Than we all thought You would be      A little lower, a little poorer   A little weaker, so much more   Than we all thought You would be   Than we all thought You would be      CHORUS
