I've been taking lessons from the stars   On how to catch your eye   Step one: burn up real bright   Step two: catch them when they're off guard   And fall down from the sky   And turn their dark eyes light      And take notice where you're headed   When you're crashing towards the ground   And take a left by the big tree and land face first by her house   And then sing it out loud      I'm not, I'm not a falling star   I lied to be here where you are   But I'm on fire anyway   I can't, I can't fly across the   Sky and heaven or at all, but   I don't touch the ground when I'm with you      I've been taking lessons from the sun   On how to warm your heart   Step one: become a star   Step two: make sure to take a break   Each night after dark   And come morning stretch your arms      And take notice where you're headed   When you're crashing towards the ground   And take a left by the big tree and land face first by her house   And then sing it out loud      I'm not, I'm not a falling star   I lied to be here where you are   But I'm on fire anyway   I can't, I can't fly across the   Sky and heaven or at all, but   I don't touch the ground when I'm with you   I'm with you   I'm with you      I'm not, I'm not a falling star   I lied to be here where you are   But I'm on fire anyway   I'm not, I'm not a falling star   I lied to be here where you are   But I'm on fire anyway   I can't, I can't fly across the   Sky and heaven or at all, but   I don't touch the ground when I'm with you
