the years pile up   and layer like a rock   but some things still stick out   through the frozen ground      your face has begun to fade   and all the things you said   my mind is like a seive   but i can still see some things      when you were in the home   and your knuckles knotted closed   you swore you'd never go   you raged like a dying poet      the earth underfoot   had all begun to move   and when the hammer fell   the savages hardly shuddered      the building all fell in   the screams were deafening   the nurse chatted quietly   the savages all heard nothing      and angels broke their pledge   and they revealed themselves   they came to take you in   and gathered you up in their wings      they could not believe it   we were oblivious   fucking idiots   us savages all knew nothing      but its a quiet sound   a body in the ground   and its a shallow time   one stone in a long line.
