[I235]Increase My Self Esteem
by Steven Griggs, Ph.d., Ste
Having a poor self esteemis a condition we all suffer from at
times, so smaller, transient versions shouldn't bother you as much.
This is often true if your self-esteem takes a "takes a bath" right after a
disappointment, when some expectation goes south. In these cases,
self-esteem recovers after the events run their course.
But there is another condition that causes grief to some of us most
of the time, regardless of what events occur. This form of
crummy self-esteem has to do with the first messges in our training as kids,
the tons of messages we received about ourselves and how we crafted a
"core set of beliefs or unifying principle" as a form of identity to make
sense of all those messages.
Self esteem of this variety doesn't just "go away."
It's very stable and resists efforts to modify it. It affects
most social sets and can contaminate any relationship.
It presents itself in families but also with friends, acquaintances and
at work.
It requires some attention and to do that, one must understand its beginnings
(origins and creation). One has to understand how it works its
way into everything we do and more importantly, how to cancel its
effect. That's the point of this article.
Hello,
I'm a psychologist in private practice. I deal with self-
esteem every day and over the last two decades, I've come up with
a series of techniques that change it--very much for the better.
They work from the inside out, working with the feelings, not the
thoughts we have when our self-esteem takes a hit. This is not the same as other approaches and as it turns out, is a much more effective one.
It is not what most people think. You can to alter your thoughts, not so much so
directly with your feelings. So, I educate you how to alter your
thoughts in a very specific way, using what call the Anchor Concept.
By design, the Anchor Concept is a different kind of thought,
engineered by you to be used intentionally when you need it. You
use it to alter your feelings by managing a specific thought,
particularly the one's that drag down your sense of self.
Alterning feelings is what changes self esteem, one thought, hence
one changed feeling at a time. I show you how.
This isn't about doing "positive things" or surrounding
yourself with admirerers. These methods don't work. They
aren't efficient at getting down to the nitty gritty and they don't
last. No, to change self-esteem, more is needed and that's exactly
what I write about.
The ebook is called "The Four Powers of Self-Esteem," which
gives you an idea of how many categories you will learn about.
If you haven't a clue to start out, not to worry. I've produced my own
test to measure your self esteem, its strengths and weaknesses. All
you have to do is follow my thoughts. I do all the work
This material works on all of us from the inside out. I spent
a lot of time writing this ebook so that it works.

Dr. Griggs

After attending Ellie Drake's seminar in Atlanta in May 2007, I came home with a new awareness of the need to increase my self-esteem. I realized that somewhere along my path I seemed to let go of working on me. As a single parent in the 1980's I started a path of looking within, but now in 2007 I realize that at some point I seemed to allow my self growth to be placed on a back burner somewhere, while I slipped into the fear zone.

Fear of not being good enough, or thin enough, motivated enough to become a successful entrepreneur. In early November of 2006 I first watched the movie The Secret. I began to watch it before bed nightly, until I fell asleep. Hoping that subliminally something was still sinking in as I rested. I began searching for free teleconference calls and website information from the ?teachers? that starred in the movie. A new path had begun and I began to do a daily gratitude list as suggested in the secret. A friend offered me a free ticket to Ellie's Seminar and I decided to go.

My friend pushed me to join her in approaching Ellie to have our picture taken with her. I was feeling unsure about how I looked for a picture that was going to be added to the slide show presentation. I went with her anyway. When I saw that picture on the screen I barely recognized myself. Somehow my inner vision had me looking younger, thinner and prettier.

Then part of the power point presentation had a stairway diagram and listed the emotional steps to success. At this point I realized that I was further down the personal growth stairway than I had previously imagined. It was hard to accept that somewhere along the path I had stopped moving and there I was still struggling. What it accomplished was helping me to see that I needed to take some steps to get back on track.

I listened to an audio from Jack Canfield from The Secret and he spoke of making a checklist room by room in your house and start cleaning up those areas of clutter and take some time to tackle these areas. Next I started walking and getting some exercise. It is a process, it may not happen overnight but each little hurdle gives me encouragement to leap over another one. By taking these little steps doing things like moisturizing my face, laying out my outfit work the night before, planning tomorrows lunch ahead and packing it up for the next day. When planning ahead, it helps me stay on my low carbohydrate program.

While spending a lot of time listening to teleconference calls and reading e-books and such online, things are sinking in! I am involved with a wonderful company, with excellent products, but my self-esteem has been holding me back from telling more people about my business!

So my goal quickly became a major focus of doing what I can to feel better about myself. We all can be so hard on ourselves. I am learning that other people learn how to treat us by how we treat ourselves and how we allow others to treat us. I need to be the best guide I can be to show others the best way to treat me. My confidence is increasing and that helps my comfort zone when calling people about my product and my business opportunity. I am in my mid fifties, in other words this is just the beginning of my growing into a more balanced and confident woman. I intend to become the best me that I can be! I can, I will, I am, you will see!!
