Kaiser Permanente California is being recognized for its work on climate control. The Kaiser Permanente health insurance organization was recently named a Climate Action Leader by the California Climate Action Registry for a number of their positive actions for the environment. Kaiser has been voluntarily calculating, verifying and publicly reporting its greenhouse gas emissions under the California Climate Action Registry. For three years in a row, the national not-for-profit healthcare group has won this important award.

The California Climate Action Registry is a private, nonprofit organization that is committed to solving climate change through the reporting and reduction of emissions. The Kaiser Permanente health insurance group believes that participating in the registry is an important step in the right direction. If more organizations take actions like Kaiser has, the nation and the world would be able to better manage greenhouse gas emissions and improve sustainability. And while Kaiser Permanente California has been actively participating in the registry, the organization's other regional divisions have also been taking steps to reduce emissions.

Kaiser Permanente California has also been designing and building more environmentally friendly healthcare centers whenever they have an opportunity for new construction.
